Streetwalkin' Cheetahs

Legendary Los Angeles punk rock ’n’ roll outfit The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs have been scratchin’ and survivin’ for over 25 years and are still going strong. The band has been cranking out ferocious new material, curating vinyl reissues of their classic albums, and touring the world more than ever

The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs features a who’s-who of rock ‘n’ roll cult heroes. The band is fronted by acclaimed vocalist/guitarist Frank Meyer, who also plays guitar with punk legends FEAR,  leads sleaze-rock supergroup Trading Aces, sings with Rock ’N’ Roll Hall of Famer James Williamson of Iggy and the Stooges, and recorded a recent album with Eddie Spaghetti. Original bassist Dino Everett is known for his stints with Walter Lure, Kevin K, and  his band Legendary Swagger, while OG drummer Mike Sessa is best known for his work with The Joneses, Rosie Flores, and Cracker. The band is rounded out by sax player Geoff Yeaton (Legendary Swagger) and vet Bruce Duff on guitar, known for his work in Jesters of Destiny, 45 Grave, Jeff Dahl, and ADZ.

The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs in 1995 Los Angeles as a for-kicks cover band, swiping their name from the opening line of Iggy and the Stooges classic “Search & Destroy.” Discovered by late, great indie power pop impresario Greg Shaw of Bomb! Records, the band issued their Bomp!/Alive debut album Heart Full of Napalm on Alive in 1996, returning a year later with Overdrive. Later in 1997, the Cheetahs also backed guitarist Deniz Tek on Radio Birdman hits "Do The Pop" & "More Fun". The next year they repeated the trick, this time collaborating with singer Cherie Currie on a re-recording of her Runaways classic "Cherry Bomb" Live on KXLU followed in 1999 and received rave press in Rolling Stone, Spin and Alternative Press, plus shared stages with The White Stripes, Queens of the Stone Age, Turbonegro, Reverend Horton Heat, Fishbone and more. The album was heralded by Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, Kerrang, Guitar World, and Flipside. Tours backing up MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer, and New York Dolls Sylvain Sylvain followed. 2001’s album Waiting for the Death of My Generation won Best Punk Album in 2002’s New Times Readers Poll and was supported by touring with the likes of Bellrays, Supersuckers, Zeke, New Bomb Turks, Amazing Crows, Fear, Dickies, and DOA. A reissue of Overdrive (called Maximum Overdrive and filled with bonus tracks) was followed by rarities collections Red Tape Diaries and Guitars, Guns and Gold, and live album Resurrection in 2006.

After a hiatus, the band returned in 2014 with the "Escape From New York"  7" vinyl single and a west coast tour with Cheetah Chrome, which kicked started their resurgence. In 2021, the Cheetahs released their first album in nearly two decades, One More Drink, on Dead Beat Records. The album featured 11 brand new songs and guest spots from John Easdale of Dramarama, Rikk Agnew of The Adolescents and Paul Roessler of The Screamers. In early 2023, the album was re-released on CD as the Deluxe Edition by Rum Bar Records with a bonus track. The previous year, Rum Bar Records also released the double-CD collection All The Covers (And More), which features a slew of guest stars.
