The Chop Tops

The Chop Tops are the Revved-Up Rockabilly trio, idling at the crossroads of Rockabilly, Surf, Psychobilly, & Punk!
In 1995, Sinner formed The Chop Tops as a way to share his love of rockabilly music – but he also enjoyed other musical styles and didn’t want to stop playing them completely. So, the band blended all of their favorite music genres to create their own wild sound. They even coined the phrase “Revved-Up Rockabilly” to describe their unique combination of these styles. Gretsch guitar extraordinaire Shelby joined the group in 1999. And slap upright bass ace Brett Black joined up in 2008. The band took their breed of rockabilly music across the U.S. and AU to perform more than 200 shows each year throughout their second decade of touring (2005-2015). They kept this demanding schedule with support from their amazing sponsors: Murray's Pomade, Lucky 13 Clothing, T.U.K. Footwear, Craviotto Drums, Gretsch Guitars, Gallien-Krueger Bass Amplifiers, and Jim Dunlop.
The Chop Tops made their final appearance on April 3, 2015, at the 18th annual Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender. The band retired in style joined by guest performers Chantilly Lace Vincent (granddaughter of Gene Vincent) and Mario Valens (Ritchie Valens' younger brother) playing musical tribute to their idols. A decade since retiring, The Chop Tops are tuned up and set to ride again in 2025, their 30th anniversary, for a select few reunion dates. So, get in your ride, step on the gas, and race down to see Chop Tops…you’ll be glad you did!
